What is the Youth Website Advisory Committee?
The Youth Website Advisory Committee (YWAC) advise to the CPC youth-developed underage drinking and drug abuse website www.BeFreePima.com. The YWAC is a youth project of the Pima County Community Prevention Coalition, which is funded through Compass Behavioral Health Care, Inc. by the AZ Governor’s Office for Children Youth and Families through a Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant and by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) The YWAC are youth who through their personal example and peer-to-peer influence promote healthy activities and information to help other youth live free from the restrictions of alcohol and other drugs.
Members of the YWAC are called Website Content Coordinators.
The YWAC is supervised by the CPC project staff, which provides a professional media advisor, website webmaster and youth coordinator to assist YWAC Youth Content Coordinators. The YWAC meets the first Thursday of every month at the Pima County Public Defenders Office at 33 North Stone Avenue, in the 6th floor conference room from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. They plan the continued development of the www.BeFreePima.com website during this meeting as well as through individual work assignments between monthly meetings.
